The legal age to enter and purchase marijuana in Oregon is 21. Before you enter the store, there will be security to check your ID.
While you do need an ID to enter a dispensary, you don’t need a medical card or a caregiver card. Your ID doesn’t need to be issued by Oregon, either! Acceptable I.D. types include a driver’s license, passport, U.S. military ID card, ID card issued by a federally recognized Indian tribe with photo, name, and date of birth, and a NEXUS or SENTRI card.
Each marijuana dispensary may have its own preferred payment method (whether it be cash or debit card) so it is best to call ahead or check out their website.
Yes! But there are limits to how much a single cannabis retailer can sell you and how much recreational marijuana you can possess (in public and in private). Keep reading for more details!
As a recreational consumer, here is a list of marijuana amounts you can have at a time or within a day, per the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission:
- One ounce of usable marijuana if a recreational consumer;
- Eight ounces of useable marijuana at any one time or within one day, and no more than 32 ounces in one calendar month if an OMMP registry identification cardholder or designated caregiver;
- 16 ounces of a cannabinoid product in solid form;
- 72 ounces of a cannabinoid product in liquid form;
- Five grams of cannabinoid products intended for inhalation (smoking or vaporizing);
- Five grams of cannabinoid extracts or concentrates, whether sold alone or contained in an inhalant delivery system;
- Four immature marijuana plants; and
- Ten marijuana seeds.
The Oregon law requires cannabis to be used in private settings. Any products used in a public setting is illegal. The cannabis products, however, must stay in Oregon and cannot be transported across state lines.
