5 Predictions for Cannabis Industry in 2022

cannabis products available at Green Goddess Remedies in Portland Oregon

Last month we focused on what we expect to see trending with cannabis products in 2022 but what about the marijuana industry in general? The cannabis industry grows every year with new states allowing the consumption of medical and recreational marijuana with many more adding legalization on their 2022 ballot. With all the growth, there is bound to be more innovation. Here are 5 predictions Green Goddess has for the cannabis industry in 2022.

1. Public Consumption Lounges

With COVID hopefully going to the wayside, this allows for the emergence of public consumption lounges. Many states have legalized cannabis consumption lounges such as Nevada, Illinois and California. We expect more states to allow this in 2022.

2. Cannabis Hospitality

Tourists are tired of the medical feeling of modern hotels with their white and gray palettes. Boutique hotels have been the fastest-growing sector in the hotel industry which outpaces extended stay and upscale hotels. We expect the cannabis industry to pioneer its own version of a boutique hotel that is more cannabis-friendly.

3. Integrated Technology

The cannabis industry wholeheartedly will embrace the Internet of Things which will be aimed to benefit both producers and consumers. An example is the ability to test the potency of a product from the comfort of your home. This will allow consumers to see how strong they made their homemade cannabutter taking out less of the guesswork when baking edibles.

4. Diversification of Cannabinoids and Psychedelics

If you are unfamiliar with the term cannabinoid, it is a naturally occurring compound found in all strains of cannabis. This compound is what gives that “high” feeling when ingesting cannabis. While THC and CBD are the most popular forms, there are over 100 lesser-known cannabinoids such as Cannabigerol (CBG), Cannabinol (CBN) and Tetrahydrocannabiphorol (THCP). These can be used to achieve new highs and treat different conditions.

5. Celebrity Influencers

We see many celebrities creating their own products in the makeup and homeware industries, it is only a matter of time before they try their hand in the cannabis industry. The list of noteworthy celebrities already having a go include Snoop Dogg, Seth Rogen, Jay-Z, Martha Stewart and Justin Bieber.

Which trends are you looking forward to seeing?

The trend we are looking forward to the most is legalized cannabis consumption lounges. Portland has always been at the forefront of trends and this is one we would love to see in our area.
